Minuteman libraries share a catalog interface for finding and requesting books, music, movies, and more.
At it’s core, this website is all about being able to search multiple library catalogs — so we put the redesigned search tool front and center on the home page. It also offers curated book lists for all readers. The new website design was a major reorganization of content and really simplified the main search tool and other navigational options. We partnered with The Atom Group on the development of the website. Metropolis handled all of the brand discovery work, information architecture planning, and design solutions.
Custom Search Tool
From the beginning of the project, the number one call-to-action was for users to search the MLN catalog. Our challenge was to design a prominent search area that combined a keyword search of their network of libraries with links to other types of catalogs.
Showcasing the Libraries
The Minuteman Library Network is comprised of 41 public and academic libraries in the MetroWest region of Massachusetts. We presented each library in an organized way focused on the contact details, map location, and latest tweets.
The Results
The Minuteman Public Library’s website became more usable with consistently branded design elements and simplified user interface designs.
